Norwegian Breakaway Moving to Port Canaveral in 2019

Norwegian cruise line has announced that the Norwegian Breakaway will reposition from Miami to Port Canaveral in November 2019.

The newest addition to Port Canaveral will replace Norwegian’s Epic at Florida’s Space Coast. The ship will sail seven-day Eastern and Western Caribbean Itineraries for the 2019-20 winter season starting Nov. 23, 2019.

The Breakaway’s Eastern Caribbean winter itineraries chase the warm weather in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; and Norwegian’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas. Its Western Caribbean cruises will visit Falmouth, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; and Cozumel, Mexico.

The move is part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s plan to introduce new ships and bring new cruising experiences to cruisers’ home ports.

“We’ve seen great success with basing Norwegian Epic in Port Canaveral for the past three years, and we find that our guests enjoy the accessibility of the port, as well as the many attractions that are in its surrounding areas,” Norwegian Cruise Line President and Chief Executive Officer Andy Stuart said.

The Norwegian Breakaway offers innovative amenities that give guests more flavors of adventure. “The next-generation ship offers new Broadway entertainment, an expansive Ropes Course and Aqua Park, and 27 dining options, the most dining options of any cruise ship sailing from Port Canaveral,” Stuart said.

The top deck of the ship is equipped with the line’s most exhilarating high ropes and water slides designed to inspire adrenaline junkies. Additionally, The Breakaway’s current entertainment lineup includes Broadway hit “Rock of Ages” as well as popular shows “Burn the Floor” and “Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy.”

“Port Canaveral is proud of its partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line and the role we have in their growth plans,” Port Canaveral Chief Executive Officer John Murray said. ‘”Having Norwegian Breakaway home-ported here demonstrates NCL’s continuing confidence in the value of our port and our ability to support some of the most successful cruise ships in the industry. Nearly 5 million revenue cruise passengers are expected at our port this fiscal year, once again making us the second-busiest cruise port in the world.”

Norwegian Breakaway 2019-20 fall/winter cruises became available for bookings on Jan. 17 for repeat customers and Jan. 18 for the general public.
